best place to vacation…?

my family (girl-15, boy-22, boy-25, mom and dad) is going on a big vacation over the summer.. we have narrowed it down to : Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and Belize… who has been to any of these places??…your thoughts?..
my brothers like to scubadive..
we would like some nice restaurants and a little shopping would be nice(although we don’t want to shop very much).. we would love a beautiful beach… and lots of things to do to keep us active
also… the first guy says that hawaii is very family friendly but is it still good for an older family.. the youngest member is 15 yrs old.. and also… it may just be too touristy??

I’m open for suggestions. If you stayed at a particularly great place, let me know. I would totally stay at some nice resort, but I would prefer if it wasn’t like Disney Land on the beach. I’d like some character… How’s sandals? Also, is it still Hurrican Season in mid-November?

We are taking a Caribbean cruise in Sept. on Carnival. What are the the average costs of shore excursions?

Of course, I am sure that excursions like “swimming with the dolphins” are going to cost much more than a regular tour of some place, but I just wanted to get a little idea of how much extra money we’d have to shell out if we wanted to get off the ship at all 4 ports!??

By the way, are scheduled ports of call (pending any hurricanes!!!) are Nassau, Casa Maya, Cozumel and Belize.

And I’ve been to cruisecritic.com which has been very helpful, but I thought I would try this question on here too and see if any of you had any helpful info.
