My friend’s family is from Belize (a really small country in South America). Her family including her know Spanish and speak it. Infact it was her first language. To this day she does not speak Spanish only when she needs it. Well long story short… she denies to be hispanic. She and her family follow the traditions of those in Latin America she denies being hispanic. She says Belize was owned by the Spaniards and now the island people inhabit it now. And the majority of the country speak English. Some of the stuff she says is somewhat true. But I say she is hispanic. She has very light tanish skin and doesn’t look white nor black, aisan, middle- eastern, or any other ethnicity. She looks hispanic. She gets mad when people call her hispanic, so I say to her then what are you? She says I don’t know I guess Belisan. If so, then what category or ethnicty is Belisan?
