Belize

In Equitrekking Belize, visit the Cayo and Mountain Pine Ridge Districts of this small Central American country, exploring Maya sites and caves and a variety of jungle lodges. Who knew that you could find a horse ranch in Belize? Equitrekking’s Emmy nominated host Darley Newman rides some of the 100 horses at Banana Bank Lodge, a farm and ranch near the capitol city of Belmopan, with former Montana resident John Carr. Next Darley takes on the jungle with Albert Garbutt, who points out medicinal plants that Belizeans use to treat everything from diabetes to sunburns. Darley takes some time out of the saddle to climb high at the ancient Maya city of Xunantunich, near the border of Guatemala, before exploring Rio Frio Cave, where the Maya scarified everything from precious stones to humans. Blancaneaux Lodge, owned by famous director, Francis Ford Coppola, welcomes guests to experience an eco-friendly, self-sustaining resort in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. At Blancaneaux, fruits and vegetables are grown in an organic garden, the Privassion River provides hydroelectric power to the resort and horses are born and raised. Darley takes a ride to Big Rock Falls, where she escapes the heat of the jungle by taking a dip under a cool waterfall. At Mountain Equestrian Trails, Darley ride into the jungle to a wide field of wildflowers, great for riding fast on horseback, and a small, secret waterfall. At night, Darley falls asleep to the sounds of nature in an eco-friendly

What can I expect when riding a horse the first time?

We are going on a cruise in December and we have signed up for a horseback ride in Belize. My husband is sooooo excited, but I am a little bit nervous. I don’t want to be sore and miserable after I go riding, and I want to have fun while I am doing it.

I have never spent time around horses or ridden a horse. What can I expect?

Would you rather……………?

Go on a horseback riding tour or a kayak tour.

Both tours are of the same area!

My husband wants to go horseback riding and I want to go kayak.

OH- and these aren’t the kayaks that hide your feet. They are more like a canoe.

We will be touring the Bacab Eco Park in Belize.

Does anyone know anything about the Bacab Eco Park in Belize?

We are planning a cruise in December and are trying to find a shore excursion in Belize. We noticed that there are several excursions to the Bacab Eco Park. We are looking at the Kayak or Horseback riding. I looked at their web-site and it looked neat, but did not have a lot of information.

Can anyone give me any reviews or information about the Park?

Is it worth the money? Are there lots of things to do there? Is it fun?

Thanks for all the answers.
