Canada has a similar culture. Quebec could keep French as a state. Has vast natural resources such as oil. Canada could balance out the house as they have many liberals(not that I am advocating that). The illegal alien problem would be solved as they would now become US citizens. We gain again vast natural resources. We gain a smaller border(with Guatamala and Belize). Again Mexico would be many states so they can keep spanish and there identity, but now apart of something bigger, a united North America. What do you think?
Ok some people answered but did not seem to have read the whole question. I am well aware Canada and Mexico are countries, the issue was merging. Honduras once applied to become a state. During the revolution Nova Scotia attempted to join the United States. British Colombia once attempted to become a state. about natural resources, we buy vast amounts of resources from Canada, trees, water, oil, metals, even cement. I have met many Canadians who said they would not mind joining the United States.As for Mexico, we would only have to secure a small border with belize and guatamala as I already said before. The economic problems there shouldnt be a big deal as its mainly because of corruption which can be brought down to lower levels of corruption we have in usa. The issue of language, the federal government has no official language. Each state decides if they will have an official language.Hawaii the native language and english is official, Massachusetts no official language
You all seem to have forgotten we are a federal government, not one single republic. The United States as simpliest as I can describe is 50 republics that come together in Washington DC, the seat of the federal government. Each state surrenders a certain amount of power to the federal government. The army, navy and air force are the military of the federal government. While the national guard is the military of the state, such as the national guard of arizona, arizonas own military.
So again if Canada joined the US it would join as alberta, nova scotia, new brunswick, british colombia as states. Not as Canada being one big state. Mexico already adopts our style of government, they use the federal system too. So Meixco would just close its federal government and the states there would switch to the US federal government, Mexico probably would have an easier transition then Canada.
