Snorkkeling in Belize – Caye Caulker – Sharks, rays & more

www.markzware.com – Snorkeling in and around Caye Caulker, Belize. Tour was run by Carlos of Carlos Tours (Ph 226 0458, email: carlosaya@gmail.com). We took the full-day tour, which was absolutely worth it! The day is over before you know it and the hour in San Pedro having lunch is very nice. Belize is in central America, but on the Caribbean sea- and they have the second largest barrier reef, which makes things just awesome! We saw all sorts of fish, sea turtles, sting rays and sharks. Nurse sharks mind you, which they say are very unlikely to attack you- and I can attest, they were very friendly and not bothered by us. (Although seeing one alone, later, did send a shiver up my sun-burnt spine!) The coral is beautiful and the underwater footage does not do it justice! I must also add that I am VERY happy with this 120 Euro adventure cam I bought for this trip. It is waterproof down to about 2 meters, but I figures after diving with it for hours on end that the seal would break and ruin it. But no, it lasted and went on to see Mayan ruins, rivers running through caves and even the border crossing between Guatemala and Belize, which we will not talk about! The mini adventure cam is made by Oregon Scientific (ATC2K Digital Video Camera). Carlos was a great guide, a friendly person and very informative. I think he knew the names of the sean life in five different languages! It was a nice touch to offer a CD with still shots after the tour was over. The Belikin was great

Entry from: Caye Caulker, Belize Entry Title: “Belize – Sailing from Caye Caulker to Placencia” Entry: “¡Buenas! Charlotte here: Although Caye Caulker was a bit of a tropical heaven the travels had to go on…and what better way to do it than spending three days on a sailboat with rum, reggae and rasta-farians (www.raggamuffintours.com ght.asp)! We wanted to head South in Belize to experience the golden sands of Placencia, and to continue our trip onwards to Honduras. Instead of spending two sweaty days in a bus we went for the boat option…and boy are we glad we did! Sunday morning we arrived at the wooden pier in Caye Caulker with our backpacks ready to load the ship that was going to be our home for the next three days. The Ragga King is a great old sail boat with two massive sails, a small cabin, seating area at the back and a huge deck up front. We were in a group of about 15 people (plus three crew members) and luckily it turned out to be a great bunch of people and we all got on brilliantly. Expectations were high as we left Caye Caulker – the sea was turquoise, the sky blue and with the soft reggae tunes and our three singing rasta crew members, life couldn´t really be much better! The first day on the Ragga King was spent fishing, tanning and snorkeling at various beautiful reefs around the
