Ancient Maya Traders of Ambergris Caye (Caribbean Archaeology and Ethnohistory)

Archaeologists are unsure exactly when the Maya inhabited the coastal areas of Belize, but ample evidence exists to support an extensive maritime trade network along the coast by A.D. 600 This volume focuses on the maritime trade network sites on Ambergris Caye, Belize where excavations have revealed remnants of very small villages, or camps, along the Caribbean coastline.

I am looking for a coconut rum?

When in Belize I bought coconut rum by Travellers. Most of which I gave as gifts. Oh, how we all loved this rum! I don’t remember the proof exactly, but it was higher than the flavored rums that I find in the U.S. It seems that rums made in the Caribbean taste much better. I did go to their website, sent them an email, but their email was returned as undeliverable. Does anyone know how I can find this rum or something comparable?

do you think belize should focus on being in the caribbean or in central america and why.?

We are taking a Caribbean cruise in Sept. on Carnival. What are the the average costs of shore excursions?

Of course, I am sure that excursions like “swimming with the dolphins” are going to cost much more than a regular tour of some place, but I just wanted to get a little idea of how much extra money we’d have to shell out if we wanted to get off the ship at all 4 ports!??

By the way, are scheduled ports of call (pending any hurricanes!!!) are Nassau, Casa Maya, Cozumel and Belize.

And I’ve been to cruisecritic.com which has been very helpful, but I thought I would try this question on here too and see if any of you had any helpful info.

Thanks!

Caye Caulker, a Caribbean island off the Belize coast

On streets covered with sand everything is going on a slow pace to the rythm of reggae. The caribbean island Caye Caulker just off the Belize coast might miss the perfect beach but got lots of charm.
