because of the stupid ‘just say no’ laws that give incredibly unreasonable sentences to anyone remotely connected to drugs. . . Not that it’s good to be connected to drugs, just that those laws are unreasonable. . .

Your right we should thin our prison population with the same methods used by the countries you mentioned above. Execution and forced exile to other countries.

Now the Prison lobby bribes the congress and the courts for stricter punishment guidelines.
Like giving teenagers 20 years for getting loaded.

Because that’s the way the people want it. Commit a crime, go to jail.
If the people want it otherwise, they’d vote for lawmakers that would open the prison doors… But that hasn’t happened, has it? Democrat, Republican, it doesn’t matter – none of them are willing to have a criminal living next door.

It has a lot to do with the size of America compared to other countries, the amount of freedom in America as compared to other countries, the number of illegal aliens in America as opposed to other countries, the diversity and the influence of moral-relativism and other Liberal ideas on America.

Justice in America is no longer blind. It depends on who you know and how much dough ya got. The US locks up drug users instead of treating them unless they are celebrities or from influential families.

the chinese raise their kids differently. teach them more about how to behave. americans dont spend as much time teaching their kids. america rewards people for agresive behavior. for example, if you beat people up when youre a youngster at school, that can earn you a certain level of respect amongst your peers. americans drink more which leads to criminal behavior. the chinese also have ways of settling things outside of court that people who are not chinese would not understand. as for communism, it is supposed to make sure everyone is equal, and taken care of by the govt. in theory, you wont have to steal because everyone has the same stuff. communism also makes sure everyone is fed. in america, it’s every man for himself, so if you dont get yours, no ones gonna give it to you, which leads many people to stealing. the chinese are also more hard working, so instead of standing around the street corner as americans often do, the chinese are working or taking care of their family. with that said, the chinese are not perfect, but some of this stuff can explain the crime question.

The three highest world populations are China, India, and the U.S, respectively. The U.S. holds about 5% of the world’s population.
China’s government shoots first and asks questions later or they just ignore it if it has to do with drug regulation, property damage, etc. Close to almost no enforcement with some of the laws. And they also exile people. India’s littered with crime and poverty, and there’s also less enforcement.

the USA also has the highest immigration rates. And unfortunately some 25-35% of the prison population (or more at times) are criminal immigrants.

illlegal drug importation is supervised by professionals in the community…not drug dealers, just tiny cartels, who have access to millions of dollars.
Drug abusers are being processed for slave labor, later on.
An innovative Debtor’s prison, and high bail creates a frightened majority traffic violators..

Where to start?
First of all, there’s the ridiculous rules and regulations that come with the Patriot Act. It actually declares people of CERTAIN RELIGIONS as POTENTIAL TERRORISTS!
Then there’s the way we’ve been raised. The middle class makes less money (with adjustments for inflation) than the previous generation. Parents are just trying to afford all of the things their children want while ignoring the children. Everybody’s afraid to punish their children for doing wrong things for fear of being sued. Then parents sue their school district for giving their child detention because the parents failed to raise their children to respect authority figures.
In a society where children are rarely encouraged to play and the TV and video game consoles become babysitters, children aren’t given much attention by their parents. Thus repulsed, the children seek attention elsewhere. Then they realize that it’s much easier to receive negative attention than positive attention, the children quickly turn disruptive, and it spirals downward to crime from there.
This country doesn’t care. So long as you don’t think for yourself and question things like the war, 9/11, the patriot act, no child left behind, and the other unscrupulous notions the government has. Btw, google House resolution 847 if you want to see the true distance between church and state.

Because the USA still needs to learn the lesson that most modern countries have already learned; if you want to make society better, than you do it from the ground up. Just coming along after the damage is done and imprisoning people is a sure-fire formula for frustration and a whole lot more social problems.
Americans need to take responsibility for their society instead of putting band aids on every social problem that comes along.

Were citizens to make The United Nations a strong capable organisation then stop Human Supremacist attitudes of powerfull no prison time. Citizens in U.N. uniform accompanied by world citizens to force and end to war Human Supremacist notions about oil drilling,mining, greed would never see the inside of a prison for reason they would be well equipped,well trained ,well armed and those who opposed them would be the type of people they had come to arrest for Crimes Against Humanity.
