  1. We went to the zoo in Belize. Basically it is just a forest surrounded by fences. They are trying hard to make it a good facility.
They have some interesting animals and they are in a natural setting.
The restrooms were a trip. They are a third world country.
The drive there was pretty scenic too.

  2. Definitely book something with the cruise ship or a reputable travel company that offers tours in Belize. I was there in January and didn’t have anything booked and was kind of disappointed because the port area is pretty bad. We got hounded quite a bit by people wanting to get you to go on a tour with them, but I wouldn’t trust them! I had been looking at this website http://www.coralbreezetours.com but decided not to book anything and kind of “wing it” when we got there. Now I wish I would have just done it! They offer alot of neat stuff and I would have loved to do the Caye Caulker and snorkel….but since I didn’t, I guess that just means I’ll have to book another cruise to Belize :) Happy Cruising!

  3. If the ship stops in Belize City, I would go cave tubing – they will pick you up and drop you off right by the ship. I went, and it was really cool, this is the company I went with: http://www.cave-tubing.com. It was a little hike to the cave entrance with the tubes, but other than that it’s just floating through the caves. If you’re a little more adventurous, you can also go on an ATV through the jungle – but prepare to get muddy! Other good excursions – the Belize Zoo, the Mayan Ruins, the Baboon Sanctuary. If you will be stopping at one of the islands (like San Pedro), I would definitely go snorkeling, and if you have all day, take a full day snorkeling and island hopping tour (to Caye Caulker). On the snorkeling trip, you’ll get to swim with the sharks and stingrays and see lots of amazing fish and marine life. We even saw a huge sea turtle when we went out, very cool. There are tons of companies that do those tours, but the one we went on was with searious adventures – http://www.seariousadventures.com/ – they are easy to find on the beach too, we booked the same morning we went. Hope that helps!
