People in the United States of America called themselves Americans. Canada, Mexico and Belize are in the American continent, too. Are they Americans too? Why or why not.

They certainly are North Americans (as are US citizens). It’s sort of like those Venn Diagrams that you learn as a young student–Set theory. . .with Union & Intersections of sets, remember?

Everyone in the continent of America which includes north, central and south american countries are american. When I lived in Mexico the people always say themselves as being mexican but also american. the oficial name of Mexico is The United Mexican states of America.
